CFA Responds to Carnegie UK Report

Responding to the Carnegie Trust UK report into affordable credit, Consumer FInance Association CEO Russell Hamblin-Boone said:

“This report recognises that the poorest people have never had access to credit. They are too risky for payday lenders and even some doorstep lenders have rejected them. So we applaud any effort for social enterprises and community schemes to offer loans to people who do not qualify for any other credit and wish them well in their endeavours. For many other people an alternative finance option, such as a short-term loan from a commercial lender, will continue to meet their needs.”
