Helen McCarthy, Head of Policy at the CFA, has been announced as a Finalist in Credit Strategy’s Women in Credit Awards. Helen is a Finalist in the “Woman of the Year” category. This is the first year that the awards have been held by trade publication Credit Strategy.
Helen has been at the heart of the regulatory intervention in the high-cost short-term lending market in recent years. Championing the consumer and the industry, Helen has bridged the gap between lenders, regulators and consumer & debt advice organisations on a number of occasions. She also played a key role in the recent merger of the CFA with the BCCA, creating a unified trade organisation for alternative lending. It is no surprise that Helen finds herself as Finalist among such a strong shortlist.
Helen joined the CFA in 2014, and previous to this, held a range of positions across the financial services sector. Most recently, before joining the CFA, Helen worked as a Senior Policy Researcher for Citizens Advice.
Helen said: “I am delighted to be nominated as part of Credit Strategy’s inaugural Women in Credit Awards. It is great to have an opportunity to celebrate the female contribution to the credit sector and recognise the leading women in our field.”
The results will be announced at a gala dinner to be held in London on the 15th March.
